Central Tax announces PCI-DSS Level 1 Certification

Repentigny, Quebec – November 25, 2009

Central Tax and its CT-Payment division, specializing in the processing of credit and debit card payment, announced today their achievement of PCI DSS v1.2 Level 1 certification. This standard is the most recent for cardholder data protection. PCI compliance is critical in today's precarious environment of data breaches and growing security concerns for retailers and processors. Level 1 is the most stringent and Central Tax is proud to be part of just a handful of Canadian companies that comply with it.

"As a provider of a broad spectrum of payments solutions, and having large government agencies for clients, it is imperative that our network, infrastructure, software and procedures meet the most rigorous security standards", stated Denis Savard, CEO of Central Tax and CT-Payment. "Cardholder information and network security are of paramount importance to Central Tax and its clients."

Central Tax, via its CT-Payment division, provides payment solutions ranging from credit card processing to stored value solutions, as well as routing of transaction to various acquirers.

"In this industry, security is of utmost importance. We promised our customers a PCI certification and we are now very happy to deliver it to them” added Mr. Savard. “This is a demonstration of Central Tax and CT-Payment approach to best practices compliance.”

The PCI-DSS standard improves fraud prevention within organizations processing credit card transactions by increasing the security measures surrounding related data and its access.

"PCI DSS 1.2 requires a significant security upgrade for an organisation processing cardholders’ data.” stated Yves Metten, Director at Bell Canada (www.bell.ca), who provided the certification. “By obtaining the PCI DSS 1.2 certification, Central Tax guarantees its customers that their data will be handled securely and in accordance with the industry standards. With these measures in place, Central Tax ensures a greater confidentiality for its customers’ credit card data”.
